I hold regular group hypnotherapy sessions at Zen Rebel Studios in Midsomer Norton, just a short drive from Bath. Here’s everything you need to know.
What is Group Hypnotherapy?
Group hypnotherapy is exactly what it sounds like; a hypnotherapy session delivered to a small group of people rather than on a one to one basis. Rather than addressing one person’s specific issue in depth, a group session focuses on universal themes that benefit everyone, think deep relaxation, stress relief, positive mindset, emotional reset and general wellbeing. You’ll be gently guided by an experienced therapist into a deeply calm and restorative state, similar to the feeling of drifting off to sleep while still being aware of your surroundings. It’s a profoundly relaxing experience and one that many people find easier to access than traditional meditation.
What Happens in a Session?
Sessions are held in a warm, comfortable space. When you arrive you’ll find a welcoming atmosphere and lie down on a mat with a blanket and pillow, get comfortable and settle in. Once everyone is ready, the session begins.
I’ll guide the group through a gentle relaxation process, gradually deepening into a hypnotic state using carefully chosen language, visualisation and suggestion. Sessions last one hourand afterwards people often describe feeling lighter, clearer and more rested than they have in weeks and some even notice an immediate shift in mood. Others find the benefits build quietly over the following days.
Group Hypnotherapy vs 1:1 Hypnotherapy – What’s the Difference?
This is one of the most common questions I get asked and it’s a really good one. In a one to one session, we work together on your specific situation, whether that’s anxiety, sleep, ADHD, phobias, grief or anything else. The sessions are deeply tailored to you and your goals. We talk, we build a picture of where you want to be and the hypnotherapy is designed specifically around that.
Group hypnotherapy works differently because I’m working with several people at once so the content is broader and focused on universal themes of relaxation, calm and positive change rather than individual issues. That said, the hypnotic state itself is equally powerful as the brain doesn’t distinguish between group and individual hypnotherapy in terms of how deeply it can relax. Many people are surprised by just how effective a group session can be.
Here’s a simple way to think about it:
- Group hypnotherapy is wonderful for general stress and overwhelm, experiencing hypnotherapy for the first time, regular relaxation and nervous system reset, emotional clarity and improved mood, better sleep.
- One to one hypnotherapy is better suited for specific conditions or challenges, deeper personal work, ADHD support and coaching, trauma and EMDR therapy, anything requiring a tailored, ongoing programme.

Where Are Sessions Held?
Group hypnotherapy sessions are currently held at Zen Rebel Studios, The Hollies, 6a&b, Midsomer Norton, Bath BA3 2DT.
Sessions run monthly on Friday evenings at 7.30pm and last one hour.
