Healing space for the body and mind…
Depression is caused by a build up of negative thoughts over time or from a traumatic or particularly stressful experience. These thoughts we say are stored in a stress bucket. Thankfully there is a method of emptying our stress bucket and it is known as REM sleep. At night we re-run the events of the day and change them from being emotional memories into narrative memories, a memory we have control over.
When functioning at its best REM will empty our stress bucket fully so when we awaken in the morning we feel refreshed and any previous problems are seen logically, faced and dealt with in a positive way. Sadly for one reason or another REM is enervating. When you have been piling too much into your stress bucket it takes a great deal of effort to attempt to empty it.
“Sometimes we overdo it. This exhausts us and makes us even more depressed.”
It has enormous energy in that effort to diffuse that depression. Now we find ourselves in the grip of a vicious circle. In an attempt to empty our stress bucket we are encouraged to sleep more and more, sometimes all day, which makes our depression even worse.
So you can see how we can start getting you back on top of things. We need to restrict the amount you are piling into your stress bucket and get you concentrating on the positive aspects in your life. We may need to re-organise your sleep patterns too in order to boost your own feel good chemicals.
What we will do to help you is to reduce your negative thoughts and get the real you back. You will be given a CD or MP3 to listen to, which will help the process. We will see a difference.
At the 1 hour initial consultation you will also be given a sound understanding of how the brain works and some information about the physiology of the brain, you will be advised as to what happens in the brain when we suffer from depression and information will be gathered to tailor the treatment to suit your needs.
The following week you will be put on the couch. One of the tremendous advantages we have here is that we use trance. Trance is a course very ordinary in many ways.
“We go into trance many times a day, when we are driving, watching TV, etc.”
Trance is when the two minds come together (the primitive and the intellectual) and focus on the same thing at the same time. When we are in this state we have access to the subconscious mind. That is going to help us enormously and will improve positive thinking and interaction.
Clients find their sleep patterns improve and motivation, confidence and self-esteem are all restored.
